Description

The Baltimore medium chain pendant is a 500mm-high weathered bronze lantern with amber-tinted hand-blown glass panels, suspended on an adjustable chain from a circular ceiling rose. The lantern housing carries cast decorative acanthus leaf finials at the crown and base, with a hand-applied weathered bronze patina finish that develops a darker tone in recessed areas of the metalwork.

Designed for covered porches, doorway canopies and patio pergolas, the pendant hangs from a 630mm chain adjustable on installation to drops between 575mm and 2120mm from ceiling to lantern base. The IP44 rating protects against solid objects above 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for sheltered outdoor locations where the fitting is not directly exposed to rain or snow. The single E27 socket accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W (sold separately).

The 225mm diameter keeps the pendant proportionate to smaller doorways and side entrances where a larger lantern would overwhelm the architecture. The amber-tinted glass diffuses light warmly, softening the output from cooler LED bulbs and giving a heritage appearance when the lamp is lit. The weathered bronze finish pairs with traditional rendered, brick or timber exteriors and complements aged copper guttering or bronze door furniture.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 means the lantern is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered porches, doorway canopies and patio pergolas where the fitting is sheltered from direct rainfall. It should not be installed in fully exposed locations where rain hits the lantern directly.

What bulb does it take?

The pendant takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K to complement the amber-tinted glass and weathered bronze finish.

How is the chain length adjusted?

The 630mm chain is adjustable during installation by removing links to achieve drops between 575mm minimum and 2120mm maximum. Once installed, the chain length is fixed unless the fitting is taken down and reconfigured.

What is the difference between the medium and standard Baltimore pendants?
