B22 (BC) LED Filament GLS Bulb 4W 470lm - Warm White 2700K

This is a 4W LED filament bulb with a B22 bayonet cap, the push and twist fitting that most older British pendants and table lamps use. The glass is clear and the filament arcs inside are on show, which is the point of a filament lamp: it is meant to be looked at rather than hidden away behind a shade. It gives 470 lumens at 2700K, a warm white close to the light an old tungsten bulb produced, and the pack rates it as a replacement for a 40W incandescent. The shape is a standard GLS, so it drops into the same space the bulb it replaces occupied.

Before ordering, check the cap on the bulb you are taking out. B22 has two small pins on the sides of a smooth metal base and locks with a quarter turn; if yours has a screw thread instead, you need an E27 and this will not fit. Beyond that, 470 lumens is a modest, comfortable output rather than a main room flood, so it works well in a bedside lamp, a hallway pendant, a reading lamp, or a two or three bulb fitting where the total adds up. How do I tell a B22 cap from an E27?

Look at the metal base of your old bulb. B22 is smooth with two small pins on the sides and pushes in with a quarter turn. E27 has a spiral screw thread and winds in. Only a B22 holder takes this bulb.

Can I use it on a dimmer switch?

No. The pack marks this bulb as non dimmable, so it needs a standard on and off switch. On a dimmer circuit a non dimmable LED may flicker, buzz or fail early, and the dimming range will not work.

How bright is 470 lumens and what does 2700K look like?

470 lumens is roughly the output of an old 40W bulb, which the pack confirms as the replacement rating. At 2700K the light reads warm and slightly yellow, the familiar tone for living rooms, bedrooms and hallways.

Will the filaments be visible through a shade?
