Description

The Avant-Garde is a wall light built around a single 180mm opal glass sphere mounted on a curved polished brass backplate. The backplate wraps around the rear of the sphere, holding it against the wall while the G9 bulb fitting sits inside the glass. The opal glass diffuses light evenly in all directions, providing ambient illumination rather than directional task light.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms with IP20 dry-environment ratings, the Avant-Garde works as corridor lighting, bedside reading light (paired), or flanking artwork and mirrors. The 30cm height and 21.5cm projection suit walls with typical 2.4m ceiling heights, sitting at eye level or above depending on mounting position. The concealed wall fixings and integrated cable entry keep the installation clean against painted or papered surfaces.

The polished brass finish on the metal backplate provides a warm reflective accent that pairs with both contemporary and mid-century interiors. The curved brass plate contrasts with the geometric simplicity of the sphere, creating visual interest without ornament. The Avant-Garde takes a single G9 capsule bulb up to 25W. G9 bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED G9 between 3W-5W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means it is designed for dry indoor environments only. It cannot be used in bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor locations where moisture is present.

Can it be dimmed?

Dimming depends on the G9 bulb you install. If you use a dimmable LED G9 bulb and pair it with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch, the light can be dimmed. Standard non-dimmable G9 bulbs will not work with a dimmer.

How is it mounted?

The brass backplate fixes directly to the wall with concealed screws and an integrated cable entry point. The mounting hardware and instructions are included in the box.
