Description

The AV:Link 4-port USB 3.2 Type-C hub adds two USB-C and two USB-A ports to laptops, tablets and PCs with USB-C connectivity. Each port supports data transfer rates up to 5Gbps, allowing external drives, keyboards, mice and other peripherals to run at full USB 3.2 Gen 1 speed. The hub draws power through the USB-C host connection, requiring no separate power adapter for devices under the USB specification limit.

Designed for users who need to connect multiple devices to laptops with limited USB ports, the hub works with MacBooks, Chromebooks, Windows laptops and Android tablets that support USB-C data. The 100mm cable length gives enough reach to position the hub on a desk without the cable pulling tight. At 26g and 104mm x 23mm x 8mm, the hub fits into a laptop bag pocket or sleeve without adding significant bulk or weight.

The brushed aluminium body dissipates heat generated during sustained data transfers and resists scratches better than plastic housings. The USB-C connector shell is metal-reinforced to withstand repeated plugging cycles. Plug-and-play operation means no driver installation is needed on Windows 10/11, macOS, ChromeOS or Linux systems — the hub enumerates automatically when connected.

All four ports can be used simultaneously, though the total bandwidth is shared across the hub. Connecting four high-speed devices at once may reduce individual port speeds below 5Gbps depending on the workload. For charging-only devices like phones or Bluetooth headphones, the hub can supply power, but it cannot fast-charge devices beyond standard USB 5V output as it has no power delivery passthrough.

Can this hub charge my laptop?

No. The hub does not support USB Power Delivery passthrough, so it cannot charge a laptop while in use. It can supply standard 5V power to connected peripherals like keyboards or mice, but not fast-charge phones or power laptops.

What devices are compatible?

Any device with a USB-C port that supports USB data will work. This includes MacBooks, Windows laptops, Chromebooks, iPads with USB-C, Android tablets and phones. The hub does not require drivers on Windows 10/11, macOS, ChromeOS or Linux.

Can all four ports be used at once?

Yes, but the 5Gbps bandwidth is shared across all ports. Connecting four high-speed devices simultaneously may reduce individual port speeds below the maximum depending on the data being transferred.

Does the hub get hot during use?

The aluminium body dissipates heat generated by the controller chip during sustained data transfers. The hub may feel warm to the touch during heavy use, but this is normal operation and the metal casing prevents overheating.
