Description

The Aura Large is a 160mm circular flush wall and ceiling light with a matte white front diffuser and a matte grey aluminium rear body. It houses a single GX53 bulb (sold separately) behind a recessed opal diffuser that spreads light evenly across the front face. The IP44 rating allows installation in covered outdoor areas, bathrooms, and utility rooms where occasional water exposure occurs.

Designed for wall or ceiling mounting, the Aura Large works as porch lighting, bathroom ceiling lighting in zones 2 and 3, stairwell wall lighting, and covered balcony or terrace lighting. The flush profile sits close to the mounting surface with minimal projection, making it suitable for low ceilings and narrow corridors where deeper fittings would intrude. The GX53 socket accepts both halogen and LED bulbs up to the rated wattage, and the fitting is dimmable when paired with compatible dimmers and dimmable bulbs.

The aluminium body provides durability in outdoor conditions while remaining lightweight enough for standard wall fixings. The matte white front diffuser softens the light output and hides the bulb from direct view, while the grey rear body blends into most outdoor wall colours. The 160mm diameter gives enough light spread to cover a 1.5-2m area beneath the fitting when used on a ceiling, or to illuminate a doorway or outdoor seating area when wall-mounted.

Yes. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas such as porches, carports, and covered balconies. It is not waterproof and should not be installed in fully exposed locations where it would face direct rain or be submerged.

What bulb does it take?

The Aura Large takes a GX53 bulb, a low-profile twist-and-lock type commonly used in shallow ceiling fittings. GX53 bulbs are available in both halogen and LED versions. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this fitting with a warm-white LED GX53 at 2700K-3000K.

Is it suitable for bathroom use?

Yes. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower enclosure and more than 600mm from a bath or basin). It is not rated for zone 0 or 1 where direct water jets occur.

How is it dimmed?

Dimming depends on pairing a dimmable GX53 bulb with a compatible wall dimmer. The fitting itself supports dimming, but both the bulb and the dimmer switch must be rated for the bulb type (LED or halogen) being used.
