Description

The Ashstead Ikat is a portable, rechargeable wall light that runs on a built-in battery, so it can be fixed to any wall without wiring it into the mains. It has a brushed aged brass arm and a 16cm Ikat shade in digitally printed faux silk. The fitting measures 236mm high, 160mm wide and projects 218mm from the wall, and weighs 0.6kg. A 1.5W integrated LED gives a warm white light, set by a 3-stage touch dimmer.

Because it needs no mains wiring, the Ashstead goes where other wall lights cannot, on shelving, in a hallway, beside a bed or in a reading corner. Fix it to the wall and lift it off to charge, or leave it in place and charge where it hangs. A tap moves it through low, medium and brighter light, so it works as a bedside reader, a landing light or a soft accent. A full charge takes about 5.5 hours and gives up to 36 hours of light.

The arm is finished in brushed aged brass, and the Ikat shade comes in colourways including coral pink, pearl grey, yellow and jade, and natural. It charges over a supplied USB-C to USB-A cable, and the rechargeable battery (3.7V, 3600mA) is included. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor use. Dust the fabric shade with a soft dry brush and wipe the arm with a soft cloth. The Ashstead also comes with Leaf, Ripple and Zigzag shades in the range if you prefer another pattern. The clip-on shade lifts off easily for cleaning or for a change of pattern whenever it suits.
