Description
The Ashland Bay is a 346mm outdoor wall lantern built around a clear seeded glass cylinder housed in a burnished bronze metal frame with a traditional lantern silhouette and a decorative carry handle at the top. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the glass, with the seeded texture diffusing light across entrance porches, side pathways and patio walls.
Rated IP44 for outdoor use, the lantern resists dust and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for exposed positions under eaves, beside front doors and on external building facades. The 213mm projection from the wall provides enough clearance to mount above steps or beside doorways without obstructing passage. The E27 socket accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W, allowing you to choose the colour temperature and brightness that suits the location.
The burnished bronze finish is a hand-applied dark brown-bronze with subtle variations in tone across the metal surfaces, giving the appearance of aged bronze fittings. The clear seeded glass shows small air bubbles and texture variation across the cylinder, particularly visible when the bulb is off, and creates soft shadow patterns on nearby walls when lit. The metal frame uses riveted assembly at key joints, reinforcing the traditional lantern construction.

Frequently Asked
What IP rating does it carry?
The Ashland Bay is rated IP44, meaning it resists dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for mounting under eaves, beside entrance doors and on external walls exposed to typical UK weather.
What bulb does it take?
The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to complement the traditional styling.
Can it be mounted on brick or rendered walls?
Yes. The lantern mounts via a standard back plate with two fixing holes. Use appropriate wall plugs and screws for the substrate — masonry fixings for brick, render screws for rendered surfaces. The 213mm projection means the lantern clears most wall surfaces without the glass cylinder touching the wall.
How is the seeded glass cleaned?
The glass cylinder can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and mild soapy water. The seeded texture may trap dust in the crevices, so rinse thoroughly and dry to avoid water marks. Most users clean the glass once or twice a year depending on exposure to road dust or coastal salt spray.
