Description

The Ashland Bay is a 278mm outdoor wall lantern built around a burnished bronze frame with clear seeded glass panels and a hinged carry handle at the top. The lantern houses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately) behind the glass, which is moulded with a seeded texture to soften and diffuse the light once lit.

Designed for porches, front entrances, garage sides and covered outdoor walls, the Ashland Bay carries an IP44 rating for protection against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The 173mm projection from the wall and the compact 154mm width make it suitable for narrower wall sections next to doorways or on either side of garage doors, where a larger lantern would overwhelm the space. The lantern mounts to a circular backplate using two screws and accepts standard UK outdoor wiring through a conduit or surface-mounted cable run.

The burnished bronze finish shows tonal variation across the metal frame, with darker patina in recesses and lighter bronze on raised edges and the carry handle. The seeded glass panels are held in a cage of vertical bars, giving the lantern a colonial American appearance that pairs with traditional brick, painted weatherboard and stone facades. The clear glass allows the bulb to remain visible when lit, so pairing the lantern with an LED filament or vintage Edison-style E27 bulb adds to the period aesthetic.

Burnished bronze develops natural patina over time when exposed to outdoor conditions. To preserve the original finish tone, wipe occasionally with a soft dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a barely-damp cloth with mild soapy water, then dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes.
