Description

The Asher is a 485mm diameter pendant light with a low-profile drum shade in midnight black, lined with hand-applied gold leaf on the interior. Five E14 bulb fittings (sold separately) sit behind a silk screen glass diffuser at the base of the shade, directing light down through the glass while the gold leaf reflects warmth back into the room.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and open-plan living spaces, the Asher suits ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. The adjustable drop from 330mm to 1550mm allows the pendant to be positioned 700-900mm above a dining surface depending on the room proportions. The silk screen glass softens direct light from the bulbs, reducing glare while maintaining brightness across the surface below.

The midnight black exterior has a low-sheen matte finish that minimises reflections under daylight, while the gold leaf interior becomes visible when the light is switched on, creating a warm metallic glow that contrasts with the dark outer surface. The hand-applied gold leaf means tonal variation and texture differ slightly between individual fittings. At 485mm diameter and 137mm height, the shade provides presence over a 1.2-1.6m table without overwhelming smaller dining areas.

The Asher takes five E14 small Edison screw bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for dining areas.

How is the drop adjusted?

The cable length is adjustable on installation between the minimum 330mm and maximum 1550mm drop. Once fitted, the drop is fixed unless the pendant is taken down and re-installed.

What ceiling height is needed?

For positioning above a dining table, the pendant typically sits 700-900mm above the table surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. Lower ceilings can accommodate the Asher if the drop is set to the minimum 330mm during installation.

Does the gold leaf vary between fittings?

Yes. The gold leaf interior is hand-applied, so tonal variation and texture differ slightly between individual pieces. This is a feature of the hand-finishing process, not a defect.
