Description

The Asher is a 368mm flush ceiling light with a midnight black metal drum exterior lined internally with hand-applied real gold leaf, housing three E14 bulb sockets behind a silk screen glass diffuser. The 119mm height from ceiling to base means the fitting sits close to the ceiling plane while the 368mm diameter provides ambient light coverage across a typical 3.5-4m bedroom or lounge.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2-2.6m where a pendant would hang too low, the Asher provides ambient illumination without projecting down into head clearance. The gold leaf lining inside the drum reflects light back through the silk screen diffuser, amplifying output from the three E14 bulbs (sold separately, max 60W each) and casting a warm wash across the ceiling and upper walls. The black exterior reads as a defined circular profile against a white ceiling.

The hand-applied gold leaf on the interior drum is real metal leaf, not metallic paint, giving an uneven patina that varies in tone from copper-gold to bright gold depending on the angle of light. This artisanal finish means each Asher shows slight variation in the gold surface. The silk screen diffuser softens the light and eliminates visible bulb glare when viewed from below. Can it be fitted to a sloped ceiling?

No. The Asher is designed for horizontal ceiling mounting only. The baseplate sits flush against the ceiling and the fitting does not accommodate angled surfaces.

Does the gold leaf tarnish or change colour over time?

The gold leaf is sealed during manufacture to prevent tarnishing. In normal indoor conditions the finish remains stable. Avoid fitting in high-humidity environments (bathrooms without adequate ventilation) where moisture could affect the leaf adhesive over years of use.
