Description

The Arlow is a wall art piece made from five overlapping cast aluminium discs in matt black, each edged with a hand-finished gold rim. The discs range in diameter from approximately 25cm to 45cm and are arranged in an asymmetric cluster that reads as a single 82x88cm composition. Each disc sits at a different depth from the wall, creating layered shadow lines between the overlapping edges.

Designed for feature walls in living rooms, dining areas and bedroom spaces, the Arlow works in both landscape and portrait orientations depending on the wall shape and surrounding furniture. The matt black aluminium absorbs light rather than reflecting it, while the gold edging catches directional light from table lamps or spotlights. At 10.2kg the piece requires wall fixings suitable for the specific wall type — solid masonry fixings for brick or blockwork, hollow-wall anchors for plasterboard on stud.

The aluminium discs are cast rather than pressed, giving each edge a slight irregularity that breaks up the geometry and adds organic variation between pieces. The gold edge is applied after casting and sits proud of the black surface by approximately 2mm, defining each disc's perimeter. The 15cm projection from the wall includes the mounting bracket and the depth variation between discs, meaning the piece needs clearance from adjacent furniture or door swings.
