Description

Warm cognac glass gives this pendant its character: a tinted shade around 20cm across that lets the lamp inside show through rather than hiding it away. The suspension and ceiling plate are finished in polished chrome, a bright, cool tone that plays nicely against the amber of the glass. The drop is adjustable, so it can hang low over a worktop or sit higher in a room where headroom is at a premium. It takes an E27 lamp and will dim if you pair a dimmable LED with a compatible dimmer.

This is a small pendant, so it does its best work close to a surface or repeated in a run. We would space a row of them along a kitchen island, or hang one either side of a bed in place of table lamps where the bedside is tight. On its own it suits a hallway, a modest landing or the corner by a reading chair. Because the glass is tinted, the light it gives is warm and gently softened, which flatters evening rooms and dining tables more than a space that needs bright, even task light.

The shade is glass and the metalwork chrome, and both are easy to keep looking right: a barely damp cloth over the glass, then a dry buff on the chrome to bring the shine back, with the power off at the wall and the lamp cold before you start. Maximum lamp wattage is 40W, and the fitting is meant for dry rooms indoors rather than bathrooms or porches. It carries a one year warranty. We also stock this shade in smoke glass if you would rather something cooler and greyer, and there are smaller shapes in the range for tighter spots. Lamps are not included.
