Description

Five clear glass shades sit in a ring on a polished chrome frame, 54cm across, with a shallow overall drop rather than a long hanging one. Each shade takes a G9 capsule, so the light comes from small bright points that the clear glass does nothing to soften, scattering highlights across the ceiling and over whatever sits beneath. The chrome catches those highlights too, which makes the fitting read as brighter than its modest wattage suggests. We would fit warm white LED capsules and leave it at that.

That shallow drop is the point of it. This is one we reach for where a lower ceiling rules out a long pendant, or where people walk beneath: a hall, a landing, a bedroom that wants light spread rather than one pool. It gives an even wash over a good-sized table or island without hanging into sightlines. Because it is rated against splashes, it suits a bathroom as well as a dry room. Dimming is possible, though you will need dimmable capsules and a compatible dimmer, and neither arrives with the fitting.

Glass and chrome throughout, polished to a mirror brightness that shows fingerprints, so a dry microfibre cloth is the thing to keep by it. The shades take a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one, so nothing sets in streaks; switch off at the wall and let the capsules go cold before you start. The wiring is double insulated and it asks nothing unusual of a normal household circuit. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same design in satin black, and the range extends to a smaller pendant and a matching wall light if you want the look to run on through the house. Lamps are not included.
