Argyle Outdoor 1 Light Wall Light - Weathered Zinc

The Kichler Argyle is a 261mm high outdoor wall light with a weathered zinc metal frame wrapping around seeded glass panels, topped with a rounded cap and mounted on a rectangular back plate. The crossbar frame creates an X-pattern across each face of the glass, dividing the panels into four sections. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the glass enclosure, and the seeded texture diffuses the light into a soft glow with visible bubble texture.

Designed for covered porches, side doors, balconies and narrow pathways where the 194mm projection clears the wall without protruding too far into walkways, the Argyle carries an IP44 rating for protection against splashing water and dust. This rating suits locations under eaves, covered entrances and sheltered outdoor spaces where the fitting is not directly exposed to rain or hose-down cleaning. The 166mm width keeps the scale manageable for smaller doorways and compact wall sections between windows.

The weathered zinc finish shows a textured grey-brown patina that mimics aged galvanised metal, giving the fitting a farmhouse or cottage character without the maintenance of real weathered zinc. The seeded glass texture inside the crossbar frame scatters light in multiple directions while still showing the bulb filament or LED element as a warm focal point. The frame, cap and back plate are all-metal construction, and the glass panels slot into the frame from the inside during assembly. Pair with a warm-white LED filament bulb at 2200K-2700K to emphasise the rustic lantern aesthetic, or a standard LED bulb at 3000K for cleaner outdoor task lighting.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 provides protection against splashing water from any direction and dust ingress. This rating suits covered outdoor locations such as porches, doorways under eaves, and sheltered balconies. It does not protect against direct rain, hose jets or submersion, so the Argyle should not be installed in fully exposed positions.

What bulb should I use?

The fitting takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. For a warm farmhouse look, use a warm-white LED filament bulb at 2200K-2700K between 4-8W. For cleaner task lighting at entrances, a standard LED at 3000K and 8-10W works well. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can it be mounted on brick or render?

Yes. The back plate has mounting holes for fixing to brick, stone, render or timber cladding. Use appropriate wall plugs for masonry surfaces and ensure the mounting surface is flat enough to allow the back plate to sit flush, maintaining the IP44 seal.

How is the glass cleaned?

The seeded glass can be wiped with a damp cloth once the bulb is removed and the fitting is switched off. The texture will collect dust over time in sheltered outdoor locations, so occasional cleaning maintains light output. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the glass or damage the weathered zinc finish.
