Description

The Ares is a 76mm square surface-mounted outdoor downlight with an integrated 8W LED at 3000K colour temperature, housed in a graphite-finished metal box with a glass diffuser. The IP54 rating provides protection against dust ingress and water splashes, making the fitting suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porch ceilings, terrace soffits, and carport overhangs, as well as high-humidity indoor spaces.

Designed for surface mounting directly onto a ceiling or soffit, the Ares sits 80mm deep from the mounting surface once installed. The square 76mm footprint allows multiple units to be installed in a grid pattern for even lighting coverage across larger areas, or as individual accents at doorways and feature zones. The downward-facing glass diffuser spreads the 8W output evenly without creating harsh hotspots, and the 80Ra CRI renders colours naturally under the warm 3000K light.

The graphite metal housing is powder-coated to resist weathering and pairs well with contemporary facades finished in black, grey or charcoal tones. The glass diffuser is sealed into the housing with a gasket to maintain the IP54 rating, and the integrated LED removes the need for bulb replacement during the typical lifespan of the fitting. The AC 110-240V input allows the fitting to be used across different voltage standards without requiring a dedicated transformer.

Can this be used fully outdoors or only under cover?

The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, but not against sustained water jets or submersion. It is suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porch ceilings, terrace soffits and carport overhangs where the fitting is shielded from direct rain. For fully exposed locations use an IP65-rated downlight.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for tens of thousands of hours of operation and should last the typical lifespan of the fitting. Maytoni provides a 3-year warranty covering LED failure.

What depth is needed above the ceiling for installation?

The fitting surface-mounts directly onto the ceiling or soffit, so no void depth is required. The entire 80mm height of the fitting projects below the mounting surface once installed.

Can multiple units be wired in a row?

Yes. The Ares accepts AC 110-240V input, so multiple units can be wired in parallel on the same circuit provided the total load does not exceed the circuit's rating. The 76mm square footprint allows for neat grid layouts when spacing multiple fittings.
