Description

The Ares is a 15cm rectangular outdoor LED downlight with a graphite-finished metal housing and integrated glass diffuser. Four fixed GU10 LED lamps cast light downwards through the glass panel, providing functional illumination for covered outdoor areas. The fitting is IP54 rated, protecting against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction.

Designed for surface mounting on walls, soffits and covered terrace ceilings, the Ares suits modern residential exteriors where clean lines and direct downlighting are needed. The 10W integrated LED provides 3000K warm white light with a colour rendering index of 80Ra, sufficient for general outdoor illumination without distorting material colours. The rectangular profile measures 150mm wide by 50mm deep and projects 80mm from the mounting surface.

The graphite powder-coated finish resists weathering in sheltered outdoor environments and pairs with contemporary grey renders, black cladding and anthracite window frames. The metal housing is constructed to withstand humidity and temperature variation in covered locations, while the IP54 rating requires installation in positions protected from direct rainfall and submersion. The integrated glass diffuser distributes light evenly across the downward beam pattern, reducing glare when viewed from an angle.

Can this be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?

The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashing, but the Ares is designed for sheltered positions such as covered soffits, porches and terrace ceilings. It should not be installed in locations exposed to direct rainfall, snow or submersion.

Is the LED replaceable?

The Ares uses integrated LED modules rated at 10W and 3000K. The LEDs are not user-replaceable. When the LEDs reach end-of-life the entire unit requires replacement.

What fixing method does it use?

The downlight is surface-mounted using screws through the rear of the metal housing. The mounting surface must support the weight of the unit and provide a stable base for the fixing points. Full installation instructions are included in the product manual.

What colour is the light output?

The integrated LED provides 3000K warm white light with a colour rendering index of 80Ra. This produces a neutral to slightly warm tone suitable for general outdoor illumination without the yellow cast of lower colour temperatures.
