Description

The Area is a 2-light flush ceiling light formed from two linked polygonal modules in a sand white finish, each with a recessed diffused centre housing a GX53 bulb fitting. The modules sit in a gentle asymmetric arrangement, with one larger polygon offset against a smaller one, creating a 330mm x 300mm footprint and a 40mm profile from the ceiling.

Designed for bedrooms, hallways and any room with ceiling heights of 2.3-2.5m where a low-profile fitting is needed, the Area provides diffused ambient light through the recessed centres rather than direct downward beam. The GX53 fittings accept standard GX53 LED or compact fluorescent bulbs (sold separately), which sit behind the diffused lens so the light source is not directly visible. The dimmable rating depends on pairing the fixture with dimmable GX53 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch.

The sand white finish is a soft, warm off-white with a matt surface that minimises reflections and glare. The polygonal shapes have softly bevelled edges where the planar surfaces meet, giving the modules a layered appearance despite the minimal 40mm depth. The dual-module design covers more ceiling area than a single-point fitting, distributing light across two positions without needing multiple separate fittings or visible cable runs.

The fitting is designed for dry indoor use.

What bulbs does it take?

The Area takes 2 x GX53 bulbs (sold separately). GX53 is a compact disc-shaped fitting with a twist-and-lock bayonet base, commonly available in LED from 4W to 9W and in colour temperatures from warm white (2700K) to daylight (6000K). We suggest pairing this with warm white LED bulbs for bedroom or hallway use.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming capability depends on the GX53 bulbs you fit. The fixture itself is rated as dimmable, so if you use dimmable GX53 LED bulbs and pair them with a compatible LED dimmer switch, you can adjust the light output. Non-dimmable GX53 bulbs will operate at full brightness only.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The 40mm profile makes this suitable for any ceiling height, but the diffused ambient light output works best in rooms of 2.3-2.5m ceiling height. In higher-ceiling spaces the light may feel less effective as general room lighting.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No IP rating is declared for the Area, so it is suitable for dry indoor locations only and should not be installed in a bathroom zone where moisture or spray is present.
