Description
The Area is a 290mm flush ceiling light with a single polygonal profile in sand white, housing one GX53 lamp (sold separately) behind a recessed central diffuser. The light sits just 40mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with restricted ceiling height where a pendant or semi-flush would intrude into headroom. The geometric outer shape pairs angled sides with softened corners, creating controlled shadow lines that give the flat surface depth under daylight.
Designed for hallways, cloakrooms, bathrooms without pendant clearance, and bedrooms with ceiling heights under 2.3m, the Area provides ambient light without dominating the ceiling plane. The GX53 socket accepts LED lamps that deliver between 400-900 lumens depending on wattage, which typically covers the needs of a 3-4m square room. The lamp is dimmable if paired with a compatible dimmable GX53 bulb and appropriate dimmer switch.
The sand white finish is a matte off-white with a subtle warm undertone, softer than pure white and close to eggshell or chalk. The recessed centre sits approximately 10mm deeper than the outer plane, so when lit the diffuser glows from within the polygon rather than sitting flush with the surface. The 1kg weight fixes securely to a standard UK ceiling rose with the supplied hardware, and the slim profile means the fitting remains unobtrusive even in rooms with dark ceilings.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take and is it included?
The Area takes a single GX53 lamp, which is a flat disc-shaped bulb approximately 75mm in diameter. Lamps are sold separately. Most users pair this with a GX53 LED between 6-11W and 2700K-3000K for ambient bedroom or hallway lighting.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, but only if you use a dimmable GX53 lamp and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself supports dimming, but the lamp and dimmer must also be compatible with each other.
What room size does it suit?
With a single GX53 lamp the Area typically covers 3-4m square rooms as ambient light. For larger rooms or brighter task lighting, you may need multiple fittings or a higher-output lamp within the GX53 specification.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
The fitting carries no IP rating in the specification, so it is not certified for bathroom zones requiring moisture protection. Use it only in dry locations unless you confirm separately with the manufacturer that a specific IP-rated version exists.
