Description
This arched mantel clock has a see-through case, so you can look straight through it to a little fairytale scene set behind the dial. Roman numerals and slim black hands sit on a pale silver dial at the top. Beneath it, two small figures stand either side of a four-petal flower disc, each beside a lantern on a post under an arch, with a castle turret and clouds in raised relief behind them. It is made of plastic with a silver metallic effect finish and topped with a bright silver loop handle. It stands 22.9cm tall, 13.9cm wide and 8.2cm deep.
At that size it sits comfortably on a mantelpiece, a bedside table, a bookshelf or a desk without crowding the things around it. The quartz movement runs silently, so there is no tick to keep you awake in a bedroom or to distract you in a study or a quiet sitting room. The handle on top makes it easy to lift and move from room to room, or to take down when you dust the shelf. With its storybook figures and traditional Roman dial, it is a charming clock to give as a gift.
It runs on two AA batteries (MN1500), and we include them, so you can fit them and set the time straight away. The quartz movement keeps steady time with no winding. The case stands on its own stepped base, so there is no wall fixing to think about. To keep the silver finish and the clear panels bright, dust with a soft dry cloth and wipe gently with a damp cloth when needed, avoiding anything abrasive. Stand it where light can reach in through the sides and catch the little scene inside, and it will draw the eye in a way a plain clock rarely does.
