Description

The Aquaria is a 12-light LED cluster pendant from Schuller with twelve individual bubble-glass shades suspended from a polished chrome circular canopy in a cascading spiral arrangement. Each shade contains an integrated 4W LED module totalling 80W across the fitting, emitting 3000K warm-white light through the transparent glass. The bubble-filled glass creates internal refraction and scatter when lit, giving each pendant a jewel-like glow rather than a flat diffused output.

Designed for double-height spaces including entrance halls, stairwells and vaulted ceilings, the Aquaria requires a minimum ceiling height of 2.5m and can extend to a maximum drop of 500cm. The individual suspension cables are adjustable during installation, allowing the cascade to be shortened or lengthened to suit the specific room geometry. The 62cm circular canopy fits standard UK ceiling roses and conceals the cable entry points behind the polished chrome plate. At 22.1kg total weight, the fitting requires a secure ceiling fixing point rated for the load.

The polished chrome finish on the canopy and cable fittings reflects surrounding colours and light sources, creating tonal shifts as the viewer moves through the space. The transparent bubble-glass shades show slight internal variation in the glass blow, so individual pendants differ in their internal bubble patterns and light refraction. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor use only; it is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor canopies or unheated spaces subject to condensation.

What ceiling height is needed for the Aquaria?

The minimum drop is 150cm and maximum is 500cm, so the fitting works in rooms with ceiling heights from approximately 2.5m upwards. For double-height entrance halls or stairwells with ceilings above 4m, the full drop can be used to create a cascading effect. In lower rooms the suspension cables can be shortened during installation.

Is the LED replaceable?

The LED modules are integrated into the fitting and are not user-replaceable. Schuller rates the LED lifespan at approximately 25,000 hours of use, which equates to around 10 years at typical domestic use patterns of 6-8 hours per day.

Can the height of individual pendants be adjusted?

Yes. Each of the twelve suspension cables is independently adjustable during installation, allowing you to customise the cascade pattern to suit your space. The cables cannot be adjusted once the fitting is fully installed and powered without partial disassembly.

What fixing is required for the 22kg weight?

The ceiling fixing point must be rated to safely support at least 30kg. Most modern ceiling joists and correctly-installed ceiling roses can handle this, but older lath-and-plaster ceilings or plasterboard-only fixings may require additional reinforcement. Professional installation is recommended to ensure safe mounting.
