Description

A wall light, 35cm tall, in white. At 35cm wide it is about the width of a laptop. A wall light puts illumination at head height without using a table or a floor, which is why it suits a hallway, a stairwell or the side of a bed better than any lamp.

Cool tones settle beside grey, blue and black without any effort. Against a warm timber they need something to mediate, or the two simply sit next to each other. Moulded plastic is light and unbothered by being knocked, which is what makes it sensible where something will be handled or moved often. It will chalk slightly after years of direct sun.

Wiring is for 1 Integrated LED lamp, supplied separately. Integrated LED is the standard screw fitting, so a replacement is a supermarket purchase rather than a specialist one. There is no dimmer, so the character of the light is set by the bulb you choose: 2700K reads warm, 4000K reads cool and clinical. A Integrated LED shaped bulb, which is the word to look for on the box.

Two shades of the same size can light a room completely differently depending on how open the top and bottom are. A narrow top pushes light down into a pool; a wide one lets it wash the ceiling as well. Dust is the whole of the maintenance and it matters more than it sounds: an even film of dust on a shade dims a room by more than most people would guess, and a soft brush restores it in a minute.
