The Amel is a 1.7m floor lamp built around two intertwining polished chrome arms that hold frosted glass shades at different heights. Each arm rises from a 300mm circular chrome base, crossing midway before separating towards the top where the two G9 bulb fittings sit. The frosted glass diffuses light across the chrome frame and into the surrounding space rather than directing it downwards.

Designed as ambient and accent lighting for living rooms, bedrooms and hallways, the Amel provides diffused wash light rather than focused task illumination. The twin G9 fittings (bulbs sold separately) allow dimming when paired with dimmable G9 LEDs and a compatible dimmer switch, letting the lamp transition from full evening brightness to low background light. The 7.6kg weight gives the lamp stability on carpets and hard floors without needing wall fixing or additional ballast.

The polished chrome finish reflects surrounding light and colour, making the lamp visually lighter than matt or brushed metal frames. The intertwined arm structure creates a sculptural silhouette that works in both minimal contemporary interiors and rooms with more decorative furniture. Yes, when paired with dimmable G9 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. The lamp itself is dimmer-compatible but requires both dimmable lamps and a suitable wall dimmer or inline dimmer to function on variable brightness.

What bulb does it take?

The Amel takes two G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. Most users fit 3-5W LED G9 bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient lighting. The maximum wattage is 40W per bulb (80W total) if using halogen, but LED alternatives provide equivalent light output at lower power draw.

What room size does it suit?

The 1.7m height and diffused twin-light output suit living rooms, bedrooms and hallways between 12-25m². The lamp provides ambient wash light rather than focused illumination, so it works best alongside other light sources in larger rooms.

Is the chrome easily marked or scratched?

Polished chrome shows fingerprints more readily than brushed or matt finishes. Wipe with a soft microfibre cloth to remove marks. The finish is lacquered to resist tarnishing but should be handled by the base rather than the arms during repositioning to avoid surface contact.
