Description

The Amel is a 120mm diameter semi-flush ceiling light with a sculpted glass shade mounted on a black chrome circular canopy. The shade combines frosted central textures with clear outer edges in a hand-formed teardrop shape, giving the glass depth and organic character. A single GU10 LED bulb inside the shade (included, 9W, 2700K) casts warm white light through the frosted section while allowing highlights to pass through the clear edges.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, walk-in wardrobes and low-ceiling spaces where a semi-flush fitting sits closer to the ceiling than a pendant but provides more presence than a recessed downlight, the Amel projects 140mm from the ceiling including the shade. The compact 120mm footprint suits smaller rooms or can be used in multiples along a corridor. The black chrome finish provides a reflective dark metallic surface that pairs with both modern monochrome interiors and warmer tones where contrast is wanted.

The shade resembles a softly-formed teardrop with gentle curves and a tapered base, giving the fitting a sculptural quality. The combination of frosted and clear glass sections creates visual depth even when the light is off, and the contrast between the dark chrome canopy and the translucent shade produces highlights where the metal meets the glass. At 0.55kg the fitting is light enough for standard ceiling fixings on plasterboard and solid ceilings.

Is the Amel dimmable?

No. The included 9W GU10 LED is non-dimmable. Replacing it with a dimmable GU10 bulb and pairing with a compatible dimmer may work but is not guaranteed by the manufacturer.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The Amel projects 140mm from the ceiling, so it works in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.2m upwards. Below 2.2m the fitting may sit below head height in circulation areas.

Is the bulb included?

Yes. The Amel includes a 9W 2700K warm white GU10 LED bulb. Replacement GU10 bulbs are widely available if you want to change the colour temperature or brightness in future.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Amel carries no IP rating, so it is not suitable for bathroom zones requiring splash or moisture protection. It can be used in a bathroom outside the defined zones (typically more than 600mm from a bath or shower enclosure) if local building regulations allow.
