Amel 1 Light Pendant Light 12cm - Black Chrome

The Amel is a 12cm pendant light with a layered glass shade housed in a black chrome fitting, suspended on a slim cable with a 200-2000mm adjustable drop. The shade combines a frosted inner diffuser with a clear outer layer sculpted into vertical contours that refract light and add depth to the glass. A GU10 9W 2700K bulb is included inside the shade, providing warm white light through the frosted layer.

Designed for single-point installation over kitchen islands, dining tables, breakfast bars or bedside positions, the compact 12cm diameter works where a full-size pendant would feel heavy. The 2000mm maximum drop allows the pendant to be set at worktop height in taller rooms or shortened to suit standard 2.4m ceilings. The black chrome finish is a smoked metallic tone darker than polished chrome but lighter than matt black, offering a mid-tone accent that pairs with both warm and cool interiors.

The layered glass construction gives the Amel a sculptural quality when unlit, with the clear outer contours catching daylight and the frosted inner core softening the bulb outline when switched on. The vertical ribbing on the outer glass magnifies the appearance of the shade slightly and casts subtle shadow patterns onto nearby surfaces. Is the bulb included?

Yes. The Amel ships with a GU10 9W 2700K bulb pre-fitted. The bulb is not dimmable, so this pendant should be wired to a standard on/off switch rather than a dimmer circuit.

What height should the pendant hang at?

The drop is adjustable between 200mm and 2000mm on installation. For kitchen islands or dining tables, typical hanging height is 700-900mm above the surface. For bedside positions, 400-600mm from the ceiling is common.

Can the glass shade be cleaned?

Yes. Switch off at the mains and allow the bulb to cool. The glass can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and dried immediately. The layered construction means water can sit between the inner and outer glass if submerged, so avoid removing the shade and immersing it in water.

What finish is black chrome?

Black chrome is a smoked metallic finish darker than polished chrome but with a subtle reflective quality that matt black does not have. It sits tonally between chrome and black, offering a softer contrast than pure black in lighter interiors.
