Description
The Ambience is a recessed wall spotlight with a cylindrical matt black aluminium head that pivots on a square 85mm backplate, also finished in matt black. An integrated LED inside the head casts 3000K warm white light through a frosted lens at the aperture, and the head rotates approximately 90° vertically to direct the beam where needed.
Designed for bedside reading, hallway accent lighting, or to highlight artwork and architectural features, the Ambience sits nearly flush with the wall with an 85mm projection when angled out. The built-in switch on the backplate allows the light to be toggled without needing to wire into a separate wall switch, making it suitable for retrofitting into existing rooms where running new switch cables would be impractical. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations — bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and studies.
The square backplate footprint gives the fitting a more architectural presence than a circular backplate, and the matt black finish absorbs light rather than reflecting it, keeping visual focus on the lit subject rather than the fitting itself. The aluminium construction gives the Ambience a solid 0.5kg weight that feels substantial during installation. The integrated LED is rated at 3000K, which produces a warmer tone than office-style cool white LEDs and suits residential interiors where softer ambient light is preferred.

Frequently Asked
Can this be used for bedside reading?
Yes. The adjustable head allows the beam to be angled downwards towards a pillow or book position. The built-in switch on the backplate means it can be operated without reaching for a separate wall switch, which is particularly useful for bedside installation.
Is the LED replaceable?
The LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for approximately 25,000-30,000 hours of use, which equates to around 10-15 years of typical domestic use before noticeable degradation.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is only suitable for dry indoor locations with no exposure to moisture or steam. Bathrooms require IP44 or higher rating for zones 1-3.
What depth of recess is needed for installation?
The fitting mounts directly onto the wall surface with the backplate sitting flush against the plaster. No recess or recessed box is needed — it is surface-mounted, not recessed into the wall cavity.
