Description

The Ambience is a brushed brass LED reading wall light with an 85mm square backplate and a cylindrical adjustable head housing an integrated 3000K LED. A small rocker switch sits on the backplate itself, allowing the light to be controlled without a separate wall switch. The brass finish has a low-sheen satin texture that reduces reflections and pairs with both warm metallic and neutral interiors.

Designed for bedside reading positions, lounge seating areas and hallway accent lighting, the Ambience directs light where it is needed rather than flooding a room with ambient glow. The head pivots on a ball joint, allowing the beam to be angled towards a reading position or directed up a wall as wash light. The 85mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting compact enough for narrow hallways and tight bedside clearances.

The aluminium construction keeps the weight low at installation while the brushed brass finish hides minor handling marks better than polished metal. The integrated LED removes the need to source or replace bulbs, and the 3000K colour temperature delivers warm white light that suits relaxed evening reading without the cooler tone of daylight LEDs. The IP20 rating limits the Ambience to dry indoor rooms only.

Ideal Lux manufactures the Ambience in Italy and backs it with a 5-year warranty. The fitting mounts to a standard UK back box or directly onto plaster using the supplied wall plugs and screws. The backplate conceals the cable entry point once installed.

No. The integrated LED is not compatible with dimmer switches. The rocker switch on the backplate controls on/off only.

Can the light head be adjusted?

Yes. The cylindrical head pivots on a ball joint, allowing the beam to be angled towards a reading position, directed up a wall, or angled down for task lighting. The joint holds position once set.

What rooms is it suitable for?

The IP20 rating limits the Ambience to dry indoor rooms only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms, or outdoor installation. It works well for bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and home offices.

Does it need a wall switch or does the integrated switch replace it?

The integrated rocker switch on the backplate allows the light to be controlled locally without a separate wall switch. Most installations hard-wire the fitting to a permanent live supply and rely on the integrated switch for control, though it can also be wired downstream of a wall switch if preferred.
