Description

The Amarilli is a 2-light wall light built around hand-forged bronze scrollwork, gold-patina oak leaf detailing and clear glass sconces, with each arm carrying a single E14 candle bulb. The bronze frame sits against the wall via a central back plate decorated with layered metalwork leaves, from which two symmetrical scroll arms curve outward to support glass drip dishes and upward-pointing candle tubes.

Designed for hallways, dining rooms and landing walls where decorative rather than functional light is needed, the Amarilli provides accent lighting at eye level without requiring overhead ceiling mounting. The 370mm width suits walls between doorways, above console tables, or flanking a mirror in spaces with 2.4-2.7m ceiling heights. The 160mm projection from the wall keeps the fixture clear of picture rails and dado moulding typically found in period homes.

The bronze base metal is finished with a layered patina that reveals warm gold highlights on the raised oak leaf details, creating tonal variation that shifts depending on the angle of view and the room's natural light. Each glass sconce sits on a cut-crystal drip dish below the candle tube, catching light from the E14 bulbs (sold separately) and adding small points of refraction across the metalwork. The combination of forged scrolls and cast oak leaves gives the fitting a substantial presence despite its relatively compact 290mm height.

Handmade by Elstead Lighting, each Amarilli wall light shows slight variation in the patina finish and forged metalwork due to the traditional production methods used. The bronze and gold tones pair with warm-toned wood furniture, deep reds, greens and traditional wallpaper patterns common in classical and transitional interiors.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does the Amarilli take?

The wall light takes two E14 candle bulbs up to 60W per socket (bulbs sold separately). Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K to match the bronze and gold finish. Flickering-flame-effect LED candles are also popular for traditional interiors.

Can it be dimmed?

Dimming depends on the bulbs used. If you fit dimmable E14 LED candle bulbs, the wall light can be dimmed using a compatible LED dimmer switch. The fixture itself does not restrict dimming.

How is the gold patina applied?

The gold patina is a hand-applied finish over the bronze base metal, concentrated on the raised oak leaf details and scroll highlights. Each piece shows slight variation in the patina distribution due to the handmade production process.

What height should it be mounted?

Wall lights in hallways and dining rooms are typically mounted 1.5-1.8m from the floor, which places the light at eye level without causing glare. Above console tables or flanking mirrors, 1.6-1.7m is common. The 160mm projection should be checked against any picture rails or dado moulding on the wall.
