Amalia 1 Light Wall Light - Polished Chrome IP44

The Amalia is a single-light wall fitting with a cylindrical white opal etched glass shade held on a polished chrome bracket and stepped back plate. The fitting includes a 3W LED G9 bulb rated at 3000K warm white. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, making the Amalia suitable for mounting above mirrors, beside vanity units, or on walls outside the direct spray of showers.

The fitting mounts on a rectangular back plate measuring 114mm wide, with the glass shade projecting 129mm from the wall and the complete fitting standing 241mm tall. This compact size suits bathrooms with limited wall space either side of mirrors or medicine cabinets, and works as a pair flanking a central mirror in typical 2.4m-wide bathrooms. The polished chrome finish reflects ambient light and pairs with chrome taps, towel rails and other bathroom hardware.

The white opal glass is acid-etched rather than painted, so the finish is integral to the glass and does not yellow or peel over time. The etched surface diffuses the 3W LED output evenly across the glass cylinder, avoiding hotspots at the bulb position and providing soft ambient light rather than task lighting. The stepped back plate adds depth to the wall-mounted profile without increasing projection, keeping the fitting clear of doorways and circulation paths in narrow bathrooms.

What bathroom zones can the Amalia be fitted in?

The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3. This means the fitting can be mounted outside the shower enclosure or bath area, typically on walls above mirrors or flanking vanity units. It cannot be fitted inside a shower enclosure or directly above a bath (zone 1).

Is the bulb replaceable?

Yes. The fitting uses a standard G9 base LED bulb rated at 3W. The supplied bulb is rated for approximately 15,000 hours at 3000K warm white. Replacement G9 bulbs are widely available if the original fails or if you want to change the colour temperature.

Can it be fitted on a dimmer switch?

The supplied 3W LED G9 bulb may or may not be dimmable depending on the batch. Check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility information. If replacing the bulb, choose a dimmable G9 LED if you plan to wire the fitting to a dimmer.

What's the light output from the 3W bulb?

The 3W LED G9 typically produces around 250 lumens, providing soft ambient light rather than task lighting. For mirror work such as shaving or applying makeup, this fitting is best used as supplementary lighting alongside a brighter overhead fitting or dedicated mirror light.
