Description
The Altessa is a 670mm vertical alabaster table lamp built around a tall, capsule-shaped column of natural Spanish alabaster set on a cylindrical brushed brass stem and circular base. The 250mm-diameter brass plinth grounds the lamp physically and visually, while the slender stone column rises from the brass cylinder as a single continuous luminous element. An E14 lamp socket sits inside the column (bulb sold separately).
At 670mm tall, the Altessa suits sideboards, console tables and larger bedside tables where a sculptural light source is wanted alongside, or instead of, a traditional shaded lamp. The vertical proportion makes it useful in rooms with higher ceilings or beside tall furniture, where a low table lamp would feel undersized. The column reads as a continuous lit form rather than a shaded bulb, giving an even ambient glow rather than focused task light.
The alabaster is cut from a single block of soft white Spanish stone, with organic veining and subtle tonal variation visible across the surface. Variations in density mean each piece transmits light slightly differently, with denser sections reading more opaque and thinner sections glowing more strongly when lit. The brushed brass stem and base are precisely proportioned to mirror the column geometry above, with clean transitions between stone and metal that preserve the architectural silhouette.
The combination of large-format alabaster and warm brass pairs comfortably with both contemporary and classical interiors. The brushed finish on the brass softens reflections and works alongside warmer tones, walnut and oak furniture, and neutral upholstery without visually competing.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Altessa take?
The lamp uses a single E14 (small Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K suits the alabaster column, giving an even soft glow without overheating the stone.
Does each alabaster column look the same?
No. The column is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. Denser sections read more opaque and thinner sections glow more strongly when lit. This is a feature of the natural material, not a defect.
Is the Altessa dimmable?
Dimmability depends on the bulb chosen. Pair the lamp with a dimmable E14 LED and a compatible dimmer switch or in-line dimmer for variable output. Please contact us before pairing with a specific dimmer to confirm compatibility.
How is the alabaster cleaned?
Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners on the column or brass.
