Description
The Allier is a 521mm orb pendant built from six curved bands of kiln-dried light wood assembled around a central opal glass cylinder, suspended on brushed steel chain. The wood forms a spherical cage that reveals the frosted glass shade inside, which houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and diffuses the light evenly outward.
Designed for kitchen islands, dining nooks, hallways and entrance areas with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Allier provides ambient rather than directional light. The 1524mm adjustable drop allows the pendant to be set between 718mm minimum and 2261mm maximum from ceiling to base, accommodating standard residential installations and higher vaulted or commercial ceilings. The wood grain runs along the length of each band, and the kiln-drying process stabilises the timber to resist warping under temperature changes.
The light wood finish on the frame has a natural pale oak tone that pairs with Scandinavian, mid-century and contemporary interiors, while the brushed steel canopy, chain and central rod provide structural contrast. The opal glass cylinder inside prevents glare and casts a soft wash of light through the gaps between the wood bands, creating a layered effect on surrounding walls. At 521mm diameter the Allier suits single-pendant installations over smaller tables or as one of a pair over longer islands.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Allier takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are not included. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting through the opal glass.
What ceiling height is needed?
The minimum drop of 718mm suits standard 2.4m ceilings when hung over a surface. The chain extends to 2261mm maximum, allowing the pendant to be used in higher-ceilinged spaces or suspended at different heights for layered installations.
Is the wood sealed or can it be refinished?
The kiln-dried light wood is finished with a clear protective coating. It is not intended for refinishing or staining. The kiln-drying process stabilises the timber to resist warping, but the wood should not be exposed to prolonged moisture or direct steam.
Can multiple Allier pendants be installed together?
Yes. The 521mm diameter makes the Allier suitable for pairing over longer kitchen islands or dining tables. Space pendants 600-800mm apart centre-to-centre to avoid visual crowding and allow each orb to be appreciated individually.
