Description

The Allier is a 254mm spherical pendant built from curved oak wood staves that form an orb cage around a central opal glass shade and E27 bulb fitting. The wood is kiln-dried and finished in a weathered grey-brown tone that shows grain texture and deliberate ageing marks, while the metal canopy, chain and internal metalwork carry an antique forged iron finish with surface oxidation visible across the ironwork.

Designed for kitchen islands, breakfast nooks, hallway entries and stairwell landings where a compact pendant gives task and ambient light without dominating the sightline. The 254mm diameter suits ceiling heights of 2.4m and above, with the drop adjustable on installation between 470mm and 1994mm via chain shortening. The opal glass shade diffuses the bare bulb to reduce glare, making the pendant suitable for positions within the direct line of sight such as above a breakfast bar or in a small hallway.

The oak staves are treated to resist cracking under indoor humidity changes and the weathered finish hides minor scuffs and handling marks that develop over time. Each stave sits in a metal bracket at top and bottom, with visible metalwork adding mass to the 254mm orb and anchoring it visually against lighter wall tones. The forged iron finish on the chain and canopy matches the stave brackets, creating continuity between the suspension hardware and the orb itself. The pendant accepts any E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W, sold separately.

The Allier takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-8W warm-white LED at 2700K for diffused ambient light through the opal glass shade.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The drop is adjustable on installation by shortening the chain, but not after the pendant is wired and mounted. The chain provides a range of 470mm to 1994mm from ceiling to the base of the orb.

Is the wood treated to resist moisture?

The oak is kiln-dried and treated to resist cracking under normal indoor humidity. The pendant is designed for interior use only and should not be exposed to bathroom steam, outdoor weather or direct water contact.

What ceiling height does this suit?

The 254mm orb and minimum 470mm drop work best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. For kitchen island or breakfast bar use, the pendant typically sits 700-900mm above the worktop surface.
