Allier 1 Light Large Pendant - Light Wood/Brushed Steel

The Allier is a 660mm spherical pendant built from six curved kiln-dried oak ribs that form an open orb frame around a central opal glass diffuser. The oak is sourced from French forests used for wine-barrel production and treated to prevent cracking and warping over time. A brushed steel canopy and chain suspend the orb, and the whole assembly accepts a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.6m or higher, the Allier pairs ambient light with the visible grain and tonal variation of natural oak. The drop is adjustable on installation between 876mm minimum and 2400mm maximum, allowing the pendant to be set at the appropriate height for a dining surface (typically 700-800mm above table) or as a centrepiece in a double-height space. The opal glass diffuser softens the light output and hides the bulb from direct view.

The oak frame presents as pale blonde with darker grain lines visible through the clear finish, and the natural variation in wood colour means each pendant looks slightly different. The brushed steel canopy and chain provide a cooler metallic accent that balances the warmth of the oak, making the fitting adaptable to both contemporary and traditional interiors. At 660mm diameter the Allier suits rooms of 15-20m² or dining tables seating 6-8 people.

What bulb does it take?

The Allier takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are not included. Most users pair this pendant with a warm-white LED between 8-12W and 2700K-3000K for ambient dining light.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 876mm minimum drop plus the 724mm pendant height means the base of the fitting sits 1600mm below the ceiling when at its shortest setting. For a dining table the pendant typically hangs 700-800mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above. Lower ceilings may not accommodate the pendant without the base sitting too low.

Does the wood vary between pieces?

Yes. Each pendant is made from kiln-dried oak with natural grain variation, so the exact tone and grain pattern differ between individual units. The wood is treated to prevent cracking, but some minor surface variation is characteristic of the material.

How is the oak frame cleaned?

Wipe the oak ribs with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to remove dust. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the wood and do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners on the oak.
