Description
The Alaska is a ceiling fan light with retractable blades, an integrated 80W tuneable white LED, and dual control via remote and mobile app. The fitting sits 355-480mm from the ceiling (depending on drop rod configuration) with a central drum diameter of 500mm, extending to 1060mm when the four retractable blades deploy. The blades fold flush against the drum housing when the fan is switched off, leaving a compact 500mm disc profile.
Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Alaska combines overhead lighting and air circulation in a single fitting. The DC motor drives the retractable blades at variable speeds controlled via the remote or app, while the integrated LED delivers 3300 lumens with adjustable colour temperature from warm white (2700K) to daylight (5000K). Both brightness and colour temperature are dimmable, allowing the fitting to transition from ambient evening lighting to bright daytime task light.
The drum housing and blade surfaces carry a wood-effect finish in brown tones, offering a warmer alternative to plain white or metallic ceiling fans. The DC motor operates more quietly than traditional AC fan motors, with lower power consumption across the speed range. The 7.3kg weight requires secure mounting to a ceiling joist or reinforced mounting point — standard plasterboard fixings are not sufficient. The app control (compatible with iOS and Android) allows scheduling, timer functions and scene presets, while the handheld remote provides immediate manual override.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling mounting is needed for the 7.3kg weight?
The Alaska must be mounted directly to a ceiling joist or a reinforced mounting point rated for at least 10kg. Standard plasterboard fixings or hollow-wall anchors are not adequate. If ceiling joists are not accessible at the desired location, a spreader plate fixed between joists may be required.
How is the colour temperature adjusted?
Colour temperature is adjustable between 2700K (warm white) and 5000K (daylight) using either the handheld remote or the mobile app. Both interfaces allow stepless adjustment across the tuneable white range, so you can select any temperature between the two extremes.
Do the blades retract automatically when the fan is switched off?
Yes. The retractable blades fold flush against the drum housing when the fan motor stops, reducing the overall diameter from 1060mm to 500mm. When the fan is switched back on, the blades deploy automatically as the motor starts.
What room size does the Alaska suit?
The 1060mm blade diameter and 3300 lumen output suit rooms of approximately 15-25m² (living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms). Larger open-plan spaces may benefit from two Alaska fittings or a larger-diameter fan model to achieve even air circulation and light distribution.
