Alaska 3 Light Wall/Flush Ceiling Light - Satin Nickel

The Alaska is a 440mm square flush ceiling or wall light with a curved satin nickel frame and frosted glass diffuser, housing three GU10 bulbs behind the glass. The 60mm projection from wall or ceiling keeps the fitting compact enough for rooms with low ceilings or tight wall spaces, while the curved edges of the square frame soften the geometry and reduce the visual weight.

Designed to work equally as a flush ceiling fitting or a wall-mounted light, the Alaska suits hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms (outside zones requiring IP rating), and living rooms where ambient rather than task lighting is needed. The frosted glass diffuses the three bulbs into even wash light without visible bright spots, and the 27W combined output covers areas of 8-12 square metres depending on ceiling height and wall colour. The satin nickel finish is a brushed mid-tone metal that sits between polished chrome and brushed steel, pairing comfortably with both warm and cool colour schemes.

The fitting comes with three GU10 bulbs rated at 9W each and 2700K warm white colour temperature. These are non-dimmable CFL lamps that can be swapped for LED GU10s if preferred, though check the total wattage and heat output of any replacement bulbs against the 27W rating. The curved square profile measures 440mm on each side, giving enough presence to anchor a small-to-medium room without dominating the ceiling plane the way a larger pendant would.

Can the Alaska be dimmed?

No. The included GU10 CFL bulbs are non-dimmable. Replacing them with dimmable LED GU10s and pairing with a compatible dimmer switch may work, but this is not guaranteed by the manufacturer and would void the warranty if the fitting is damaged.

What's the difference between ceiling and wall mounting?

The fitting installs the same way in both positions — it mounts to a standard UK electrical back box or ceiling rose. When wall-mounted the 60mm projection gives enough standoff to cast wash light across the wall surface rather than directly outward into the room.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

The Alaska carries no IP rating, so it is only suitable for bathrooms when mounted outside the zones defined in BS 7671 wiring regulations — typically 3m or more from the bath or shower tray, and outside the volume above the bath.

Can the bulbs be replaced with LEDs?

Yes. The GU10 socket accepts any standard GU10 LED bulb. Check that the combined wattage of three replacement bulbs does not exceed 27W, and confirm the heat output of the LEDs is compatible with the enclosed fitting.
