Description

The Alaska is a 2 light wall lamp with an integrated rocker switch, built around an antique brass frame with two frosted glass shades held in cup-shaped brass sockets on curved arms. The frame extends 140mm from the wall and mounts from a circular brass backplate 230mm wide. Two GU10 bulbs (included) produce 2700K warm white light diffused through the frosted angular glass.

Designed for bedside use, hallways and living room accent positions, the integrated switch allows the lamp to be controlled without reaching for a remote wall switch or pull cord. The 180mm height positions both shades at roughly the same level, making the Alaska suitable as a pair of reading lights either side of a bed headboard or as flanking lights around a mirror or artwork. The antique brass finish is a warm mid-brown tone with slight surface patina, pairing well with oak, walnut and warm-toned painted walls.

The frosted glass shades have a faceted angular profile that catches light along each edge when the bulbs are on, adding decorative detail to the functional light output. The 1.2kg weight requires secure fixing into solid wall substrate or into a joist behind plasterboard. Are the bulbs included?

Yes. The Alaska ships with two GU10 bulbs producing 2700K warm white light at 18W combined output. These are non-dimmable CFL or LED bulbs depending on current stock.

Can it be used as a bedside reading light?

Yes. The integrated rocker switch allows the lamp to be controlled without reaching for a remote wall switch, making it suitable for bedside positions. Mount it 1000-1200mm above mattress level for comfortable reading.

What wall fixing is needed?

The 1.2kg weight requires secure fixing into solid brick, block or masonry, or into a timber batten or wall stud behind plasterboard. Standard plasterboard fixings are not adequate on their own.

Is the antique brass finish lacquered?

The finish is a pre-patinated antique brass coating applied during manufacture. It does not require polishing and should not be cleaned with abrasive or chemical polishes — wipe with a dry cloth only.
