The Alaska is a 1.7m floor lamp built around two intersecting antique brass stems that twist from a circular base to a rectangular top bracket, housing two G9 bulb fittings with frosted and clear glass shades. The twisted frame creates a structural spiral that rises the full height of the lamp, with the two glass shades positioned at head height where the stems cross and converge.

Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and reading corners where ambient light is needed without ceiling fittings, the Alaska provides soft upward and downward light from its two G9 bulbs. The frosted shade diffuses light evenly while the clear shade allows more direct throw, creating layered light output from a single fixture. The 300mm circular footprint sits comfortably beside sofas, armchairs or in corner positions without requiring wall fixing.

The antique brass finish shows a warm, slightly aged tone that sits between polished brass and bronze, pairing well with both traditional and contemporary interiors. At 8.2kg the lamp has a substantial presence that keeps it stable on carpets and hard floors. The G9 fittings accept halogen or LED capsule bulbs up to 40W each (sold separately), and the lamp is dimmable when paired with dimmable G9 bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer.

What bulbs does the Alaska take?

The lamp takes two G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. G9 bulbs are available in both halogen and LED versions. For dimming, choose dimmable G9 LEDs rated at 3-5W, or halogen G9 bulbs up to 40W each.

Is the Alaska dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable G9 bulbs and connected to a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch. The lamp itself does not include dimming electronics, so dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs chosen.

How stable is the base?

The 300mm circular base and 8.2kg overall weight provide stable placement on carpets and hard floors. The lamp does not require wall fixing and is designed to stand freely beside furniture.
