Description

The Akira is a 6 light chandelier built on two horizontal arms extending 1040mm across a central polished chrome column. Each arm carries three E14 candelabra fittings housed in faceted crystal glass cups, topped with black rectangular fabric shades. The chrome frame is polished to a mirror finish, the crystal cups refract light through their cut facets, and the black shades direct light downward while absorbing upward spill.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and open-plan living areas with ceiling heights above 2.6m, the Akira provides task and ambient light across a linear spread. The 1040mm width suits tables from 1800mm upward, positioned centrally so the two arms balance the table length. The adjustable drop from 600mm to 1550mm allows the chandelier to be set 700-900mm above the table surface depending on ceiling height. The polished chrome canopy fits standard UK ceiling roses.

Each of the six crystal cups is cut with geometric facets that catch and scatter light when the bulbs are lit, creating points of reflected brightness against the black shades. The contrast between the deep black fabric and the high-polish chrome accentuates both materials — the chrome reads brighter against the black, the black defines the edges of each shade more sharply. The overall weight of 5kg gives the chandelier a solid presence without requiring additional ceiling bracing in standard construction.

What bulbs does the Akira take?

The chandelier takes six E14 small Edison screw bulbs (also called candelabra or SES), sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K). Maximum wattage depends on the bulb type — check the bulb packaging for compatibility with enclosed fittings.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, if fitted with dimmable bulbs. The fixture itself is dimmer-compatible, but the bulbs you choose must also be rated as dimmable. Pair with a trailing-edge LED dimmer for best performance with LED bulbs.

What table length does the 1040mm width suit?

The 1040mm arm spread works best over tables from 1800mm to 2400mm long, positioned centrally so the two arms balance the table length. For shorter tables the chandelier may visually overpower the surface; for longer tables a second fixture or a longer-armed model may be more proportionate.

How is the drop adjusted?

The chandelier ships with a chain and cable allowing drop adjustment between 600mm and 1550mm. The excess chain and cable are concealed inside the ceiling canopy once the desired drop is set during installation. Most installations over dining tables use a 700-900mm drop depending on ceiling height.
