Description

The Akira is a 400mm square pendant light built around a polished chrome metal frame with a cream fabric shade suspended inside it. The frame is constructed from flat chrome-plated bars that form a geometric cage around the shade, creating clean horizontal and vertical lines. Four E27 bulb holders sit inside the cream shade, concealed from view when the pendant is installed.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls where geometric form suits the interior, the Akira works best in rooms with ceiling heights above 2.4m to accommodate its minimum 540mm drop. The adjustable cable extends up to 2000mm, allowing the pendant to be set at different heights depending on ceiling height and table size. The 400mm square footprint suits tables between 1.2m and 1.8m long, providing enough visual presence without dominating smaller spaces.

The polished chrome finish gives the frame a high-reflectivity surface that catches daylight and picks up ambient light from surrounding windows and artificial sources. The cream fabric shade softens the light output from the four bulbs, diffusing it through the woven textile before it reaches the chrome frame. The combination of reflective metal and matt fabric gives the pendant a two-tone appearance that shifts depending on viewing angle and lighting conditions. The frame adds 2kg of weight, so installation requires a ceiling fixing rated for at least 3kg.

The pendant takes four E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K. The cream shade diffuses the light, so higher lumen output bulbs work well without causing glare.

Is the Akira dimmable?

Yes, provided you use dimmable E27 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. The pendant itself has no electronic components that would prevent dimming. Check your bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before installation.

What table size does it suit?

The 400mm square pendant works best above dining tables between 1.2m and 1.8m long, or kitchen islands of similar dimensions. For larger tables above 2m, consider using two Akira pendants spaced along the table length.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The cable length is set during installation, between 540mm and 2000mm. Shortening the drop post-installation requires removing the pendant and re-threading the cable through the ceiling rose, which is best done by a qualified electrician.
