The Akira is a 540mm 3-light chandelier built around three curved antique brass arms that sweep outward from a central column, each terminating in a clear crystal cup that sits beneath a square-section cream fabric shade. The antique brass finish shows darker patination in the recesses of the metalwork, giving the fitting a lived-in warmth that pairs well with traditional and transitional interiors.

Designed for dining rooms, bedrooms and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Akira provides ambient light through three E14 bulbs (sold separately) diffused by the cream shades. The drop is adjustable between 540mm minimum and 1550mm maximum on installation, allowing the chandelier to sit 700-800mm above a dining table in a standard-height room or lower in a double-height entrance hall. The 540mm diameter suits tables of 1.2-1.6m or room widths of 3-4m without dominating the space.

Each cream shade is a rectangular fabric box with an open top and bottom, allowing light to wash upward onto the ceiling and downward through the fabric. The crystal cups beneath each shade catch and refract light from the bulb, creating small points of sparkle against the warmer tones of the brass and cream. The combined weight of 3kg gives the chandelier sufficient presence on a chain without requiring reinforced ceiling roses on standard plasterboard ceilings.

What bulbs does the Akira take?

The 540mm minimum drop works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above when the chandelier is hung over a dining table. For a typical dining position the fitting should sit 700-800mm above the table surface, requiring approximately 2.5-2.7m ceiling height after accounting for the chandelier body itself.

Can the chain length be adjusted after installation?

The drop is set during installation by shortening the suspension chain to the desired length. Once installed, changing the drop requires removing the ceiling rose cover and re-threading the chain, which is straightforward but involves isolating the circuit at the consumer unit.
