Description

The Akira is a 610mm table lamp with a polished chrome column supporting three tiers of cut crystal glass and two cream fabric shades, one at each level. The chrome base is a square footplate measuring 300mm on each side, giving the lamp stability on console tables, bedside cabinets and side tables. Each cream shade conceals an E27 bulb fitting, with the crystals positioned between the two light sources to catch and refract light when the lamp is switched on.

Designed for bedrooms, living rooms and hallways where ambient and decorative lighting are both needed, the Akira provides two independently switchable light sources at different heights. The upper and lower shades can use different bulb wattages to create layered illumination, or matched bulbs for balanced output. The cream fabric softens the light while the crystal tiers add reflected highlights across nearby surfaces. The 300mm square footprint fits most bedside tables without occupying the full surface.

The polished chrome finish on the central column and base reflects surrounding colours and light, which works well in both warm-toned and neutral interiors. The three crystal tiers are press-moulded glass with faceted edges that create visible sparkle when lit. At 3.7kg the lamp has enough mass to resist tipping when the cable is accidentally pulled. The cream shades are fabric over a wire frame, fitted with an E27 lampholder at the top of each shade for easy bulb replacement.

What bulbs does the Akira take?

The lamp takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for bedside or living room use. The maximum wattage depends on the bulb type — check the lamp base label for the specific rating.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with dimmable E27 bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer. The dimmer must match the total wattage of both bulbs and the specific bulb technology (LED dimmers for LED bulbs, incandescent dimmers for halogen or filament bulbs).

Can the two lights be switched independently?

No. The Akira has a single inline switch on the cable that controls both bulbs together. For independent control, use smart bulbs with app-based switching or fit the lamp to a switched socket outlet.

How are the cream shades cleaned?

The fabric shades attract dust over time. Remove dust with a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner set to low suction, or use a lint roller. For marks, spot-clean gently with a barely-damp cloth and allow to dry completely before switching the lamp back on.
