Description

The Akira is a 610mm-high table lamp built around an antique brass central column threaded with three stacked clear crystal discs, topped by two cream fabric shades arranged on separate arms. Each shade houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately), giving a combined output that suits console tables, sideboards and bedside positions in traditional, transitional and warm-toned contemporary interiors.

Designed for living rooms, entrance halls and bedrooms where ambient lighting is needed without ceiling pendants, the Akira's dual-shade arrangement provides a broader spread of light than single-bulb table lamps. The 300mm-square footprint sits comfortably on surfaces 600mm wide or wider, and the antique brass finish tones down reflections compared to polished brass while still providing a warm metallic accent. The lamp is dimmable when paired with dimmable E27 LED bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmer on the mains circuit.

The three clear crystal discs sit between the brass column sections and catch light from both bulbs, refracting it outward and adding a layer of visual interest when the lamp is lit. The cream fabric shades diffuse the light evenly, softening the bulb glare and casting a warm ambient glow onto surrounding surfaces. At 3.7kg the lamp has enough weight to remain stable on typical console tables and bedside units without needing to be fixed in place.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does the Akira take?

The lamp takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting in living rooms and bedrooms.

Is the Akira dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable E27 LED bulbs and connected to a compatible dimmer switch on the mains circuit. The lamp itself does not include built-in dimming — dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs chosen and the type of dimmer (trailing-edge or leading-edge) installed.

What surface size does it need?

The 300mm-square base suits console tables, sideboards and bedside units 600mm wide or wider. The 3.7kg weight provides stability on most flat surfaces without needing to be secured.

How is the cream shade cleaned?

The fabric shades can be dusted with a soft brush or vacuum attachment on low suction. For more stubborn marks, spot-clean gently with a barely-damp microfibre cloth and allow to air-dry fully before switching the lamp back on.
