Description

The Akira is a 90cm diameter two-tier crystal chandelier carrying twelve E14 bulbs (sold separately) on polished chrome arms, each fitted with a black fabric shade and a crystal glass cup beneath. The two-tier structure divides the twelve lights into an upper ring of five and a lower ring of seven, creating a balanced vertical composition with an adjustable drop of 850-1260mm on installation.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Akira pairs ambient and decorative function across a large footprint. The polished chrome frame reflects light from the bulbs and from surrounding windows, while the black fabric shades control glare and direct light downwards and outwards. The crystal cups beneath each arm add refraction and visual interest when the chandelier is viewed from below, typical of seated dining positions.

The 900mm diameter requires a ceiling rose capable of supporting 10.1kg and suits rooms of at least 4m x 4m to avoid the chandelier dominating the space. The two-tier arrangement gives the fitting a 350-400mm vertical presence once hung, making it more prominent than single-tier chandeliers of similar diameter. The black shades contrast with the polished chrome to create defined edges and a modern take on classical chandelier proportions. All twelve lights are dimmable when paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch.

The chandelier takes twelve E14 small Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W warm-white LED candle bulbs at 2700K for dining rooms, giving approximately 400-600 lumens per bulb and a combined output of 4,800-7,200 lumens across all twelve lights.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 850mm plus the chandelier's 350-400mm vertical structure means a ceiling height of at least 2.7m is recommended to avoid the lower tier sitting too close to head height. For dining tables the chandelier typically hangs 700-900mm above the table surface, requiring a 2.9-3.1m ceiling height.

Is the drop adjustable?

Yes. The chain can be shortened during installation to achieve any drop between 850mm and 1260mm from the ceiling rose to the top of the chandelier frame. The adjustment is made once during fitting and is not intended for regular changes.

How is the polished chrome maintained?

Polished chrome can be cleaned with a soft dry microfibre cloth. For fingerprints or water marks, a barely-damp cloth followed by immediate drying with a dry cloth prevents streaking. Avoid abrasive cleaners and polishes which can scratch the chrome finish.
