Description
The Kichler Aivian is a 124mm diameter single pendant light with a weathered brass canopy and stem paired with a tapered clear glass shade. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately) and hangs on an adjustable rod that can be set anywhere between 398mm and 1455mm drop depending on ceiling height and application.
Designed for kitchens, hallways, cloakrooms and breakfast bars where a compact pendant is needed, the Aivian can also convert to a semi-flush ceiling mount by removing the stem entirely. This makes it suitable for low ceilings or rooms where a pendant drop would obstruct headroom. The 124mm shade diameter keeps the fitting compact enough to cluster in a run of three or five over a kitchen island without crowding.
The weathered brass finish carries a subtle patina that softens the metallic tone compared to polished or brushed brass, giving it a lived-in quality that suits both industrial-leaning and warmer traditional interiors. The clear glass shade has a slight taper from base to opening, allowing the bulb inside to be visible when viewed from below, which makes bulb choice relevant to the overall look — warm-white filament LED bulbs tend to pair well with the brass tone.
The glass is hand-blown, so minor variation in thickness and the exact taper angle occurs between individual units. The weathered brass finish is applied by hand and develops further tonal variation over time when exposed to humidity and handling, which is a characteristic of the material rather than a defect.

Frequently Asked
Can this be fitted as a semi-flush ceiling light?
Yes. The Aivian is convertible. You can remove the adjustable stem during installation and mount the glass shade directly to the ceiling canopy, giving a semi-flush configuration with approximately 298mm projection from the ceiling. This suits rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m or where a pendant drop would obstruct movement.
What bulb works best with weathered brass?
The clear glass shade leaves the bulb visible from below. Most users pair this with a warm-white filament LED bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K, which complements the brass tone. Standard frosted or pearl LED bulbs also work but give a cooler, more functional look.
How is the drop adjusted?
The pendant uses a threaded rod system. During installation the rod can be cut or extended to set the exact drop between the 398mm minimum and 1455mm maximum. Once fitted, the drop is fixed and cannot be adjusted without re-installation.
Does the weathered brass finish change over time?
Yes. Weathered brass is a living finish that develops further patina and tonal variation when exposed to humidity, handling and natural oxidation. This is a characteristic of the material. If you prefer a stable finish, consider the polished or brushed brass versions of the Aivian instead.
