Description

The Ahrendale is a 610mm diameter chandelier built around an open Anvil Iron mesh cage encasing four Vetro Mica glass shades, each housing an E27 bulb fitting (bulbs sold separately). The wire mesh forms a cylindrical drum around the central column, with the four glass shades suspended on curved metal arms beneath the mesh. The Grey Anvil Iron finish gives the metalwork a weathered, forge-textured appearance that contrasts with the translucent amber-toned mica glass.

Designed for dining rooms, hallways and open-plan living areas with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Ahrendale works over rectangular dining tables up to 1.8m long or as a focal point above a console in an entrance hall. The drop is adjustable on installation from 838mm minimum to 2642mm maximum via the included 1829mm chain, allowing the chandelier to be set 700-800mm above a table surface or higher for ambient room lighting. The open mesh cage means the fitting casts both direct light downward through the glass shades and soft filtered light outward through the wire mesh.

Each Vetro Mica shade measures approximately 140mm in diameter and diffuses warm ambient light when paired with filament-style LED or traditional Edison bulbs. The Anvil Iron finish on the mesh and metalwork shows visible hammer marks and tonal variation that reference hand-forged ironwork, while the Grey colouration sits between charcoal and gunmetal depending on ambient light. The fitting weighs approximately 7kg and requires a ceiling joist or reinforced fixing point capable of supporting this load plus the chain length in use.

The minimum drop of 838mm means ceiling heights of 2.4m or above work best. For dining tables, the chandelier typically hangs 700-800mm above the surface, which requires approximately 2.5-2.7m ceiling height. The chain can be shortened during installation to suit lower ceilings.

What bulbs are recommended?

The chandelier takes four E27 bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately). Filament-style LED bulbs between 4-8W in 2200K-2700K colour temperatures pair well with the amber-toned Vetro Mica glass and industrial aesthetic. Standard A60 globe bulbs or decorative vintage-style bulbs both work.

Is the drop adjustable after installation?

No. The chain length is set during installation by removing links before the ceiling rose is wired in. Once installed, the drop is fixed unless the electrician returns to adjust the chain length.

How is the mesh cage cleaned?

The Anvil Iron mesh can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth or dusted with a soft brush. Avoid spraying cleaning products directly onto the metalwork as they may affect the weathered finish. The Vetro Mica shades can be wiped with a barely-damp cloth when cool.
