Description

The Aethera is a wall-mounted reading light with a brushed brass circular backplate and extending arm, paired with a tapered black fabric shade. A single E27 bulb fitting sits inside the shade, which measures approximately 160mm at its widest point and 140mm tall. The backplate houses an integrated USB charging socket, allowing devices to be charged without occupying nearby mains outlets.

Designed for bedside positions, reading corners next to armchairs, and task lighting in home offices or studies, the Aethera projects 160mm from the wall when the arm is extended perpendicular. The shade directs light downward and outward, making it suitable for reading without creating glare on screens or surfaces directly ahead. The lamp is dimmable when paired with a compatible E27 LED bulb and appropriate dimmer switch on the lighting circuit.

The brushed brass finish on the metalwork provides a warm mid-tone that sits between polished brass (which reflects more light) and antique brass (which has darker patination). The black fabric shade is backed with a fireproof PVC lining that prevents heat transfer to the outer fabric layer. The IP20 rating confirms the fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations but not bathrooms or outdoor positions. Ideal Lux backs the fitting with a 5-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

Is the Aethera dimmable?

Yes. The fitting is rated as dimmable, but you must use a dimmable E27 LED bulb and have a compatible dimmer switch installed on the lighting circuit. Standard non-dimmable LEDs will not dim and may flicker or fail if used with a dimmer.

What bulb does it take?

The Aethera takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for bedside or reading use.

What does the USB socket output?

The integrated USB socket allows device charging directly from the wall light. Typical output is 5V, sufficient for charging phones, tablets and e-readers. Check the product packaging or manual for the exact output rating.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.
