Description

The Aeris is a 60cm wall light built from layered transparent blades of Cristalflex and Lentiflex, fanned out in tiered rings around three internal lamps. Two E14 6W candle-style bulbs sit at the centre alongside a 6W spot, and the slatted construction breaks the output into hundreds of fine highlights as light passes through the cut acrylic edges. Total weight is 2kg and the fitting runs on 110-220V mains.

The wall light is suited to hallways, stairwell walls, lounge alcoves and bedroom feature walls where there is enough headroom for a fitting that projects 41cm from the surface and stands 60cm tall. Mounted at eye level or slightly above, the Aeris reads as a sculptural object during the day and a layered light source at night. A pair flanking a console table, fireplace or bedhead works well, as does a single fitting on a plain plastered or stone wall.

Cristalflex and Lentiflex are transparent thermoplastics developed for sculptural lighting, allowing the individual blades to be cut with sharp edges that catch light without the weight or fragility of glass. The blades are arrayed in a fanned, comb-like profile that tapers from a wide upper crown to a narrower trailing tail, giving the fitting an asymmetric silhouette closer to a frozen wave than a conventional wall sconce. The 22cm width keeps the wall footprint compact relative to the visual presence of the piece.
