Description

The Aegean is a two-light wall light built on hand-forged brass scrollwork finished in polished brass, with faceted cut-glass droplets suspended below each candle arm and clear glass drip trays beneath the E14 sockets. The double-arm arrangement extends 175mm from the wall, with each arm curving outward from a circular backplate and terminating in a polished brass candle sleeve.

Designed for hallways, living room feature walls and either side of fireplaces or mirrors, the Aegean pairs decorative lighting with a 320mm-wide presence that sits comfortably on walls with 2.4-2.7m ceiling heights. Each arm takes a single E14 candle bulb up to 60W (sold separately), providing combined ambient and accent light. The clear glass drip trays catch dust and protect the brass scrollwork beneath, while the faceted droplets refract light from the candle bulbs when lit.

The polished brass finish is highly reflective and works best in rooms with warm or neutral palettes where the bright metallic tone complements rather than clashes with wall colours. The hand-forged scrollwork gives each fitting slight variations in curve and proportion, a characteristic of the forming process rather than a defect. The 220mm height allows the fitting to be mounted at typical switch height (approximately 1.2-1.5m from floor level) without the upper bulb sitting too close to the ceiling in standard-height rooms.

What bulbs does the Aegean take?

Each arm takes one E14 small Edison screw candle bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most buyers pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) to match the brass tone.

How far does it project from the wall?

The fitting projects 175mm from the wall to the front edge of the glass drip trays. This projection suits walls with sufficient clearance — avoid positioning where the arms might obstruct doorways or high-traffic areas.

Can the glass droplets be removed for cleaning?

The cut-glass droplets hang on wire loops and can be lifted off individually for cleaning or dusting. The polished brass scrollwork should be wiped with a dry, soft cloth to avoid tarnishing — do not use brass polish or chemical cleaners as these can damage the factory finish.

Is the brass finish lacquered?

Yes. Elstead Lighting applies a protective lacquer to polished brass finishes to slow tarnishing and maintain the bright metallic appearance. Over time and with exposure to moisture or temperature fluctuations, some natural dulling may occur.
