Description

The Aegean is a single-light wall fitting in aged brass with hand-forged scrollwork and a cut glass sconce that sits beneath the candle-style E14 bulb holder. The scroll arm curves out from a circular backplate, rising through a decorative cage motif before extending into a brass candle tube, with the cut glass sconce positioned between the arm and the bulb to catch and diffuse downward light.

Suited to hallways, bedroom bedsides, and living room alcoves where close-up decorative detail is visible, the Aegean projects 215mm from the wall and sits 220mm tall, making it compact enough for narrow hallways without intruding into headroom. The aged brass finish is darker and warmer than polished brass, with a matte surface that reduces reflections and pairs well with traditional and transitional interiors using warm wood tones, deep paint colours, or heritage wallpapers.

The cut glass sconce acts as both a drip tray for candle-style bulbs and a refractive surface that breaks light into softer ambient patterns rather than a direct downward beam. The hand-forged scrollwork varies slightly between individual fittings due to the forging process, giving each piece minor differences in the exact curve of the metalwork. The fitting accepts any E14 candle bulb up to 60W, sold separately.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does the Aegean take?

The fitting takes a standard E14 small Edison screw candle bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED candle bulb in warm white (2700K) to suit the traditional aesthetic of the aged brass finish.

How far does it project from the wall?

The Aegean projects 215mm from the wall once fitted, which suits narrow hallways and bedside positions without intruding into circulation space. Allow at least 250mm clearance from the wall for safe bulb replacement.

Is the aged brass finish lacquered?

Elstead aged brass finishes are typically sealed to prevent tarnishing and maintain the darker, warmer tone. The surface should be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth rather than polished with brass cleaners, which can strip the aged patina.

Can it be installed on a sloped ceiling or angled wall?

The Aegean is designed for vertical wall mounting. The cut glass sconce sits horizontally beneath the bulb holder and would not function correctly on angled surfaces.
