Description
The Kichler Admirals Cove is a 377mm outdoor wall lantern with a textured black composite body, clear seeded glass panels set within a diamond-lattice cage, and a scrolled mounting bracket. The lantern houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind seeded glass that creates a diffused glow through the diamond pattern metalwork, combining the visual language of Tudor and Georgian coach lights with a modern composite construction.
Designed for porch entryways, side doors, garage exteriors and courtyard walls, the Admirals Cove carries an IP44 rating for protection against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for exposed positions under eaves or on sheltered walls. The composite material resists saltwater corrosion and UV degradation better than painted steel, holding its finish in coastal and high-sun installations. The 208mm projection from the wall allows the lantern to sit clear of doorframes and render without blocking door swing.
The textured black finish offers a low-sheen surface that minimises glare under direct sunlight and pairs with traditional brickwork, painted render, weatherboarding and stone facades. The seeded glass diffuses the light source, reducing harsh shadows while maintaining enough brightness for functional outdoor lighting. The composite body weighs less than equivalent die-cast aluminium fittings, simplifying installation on timber-frame walls and older masonry without requiring additional structural support.

Frequently Asked
What IP rating does it carry and where can it be used?
The Admirals Cove is IP44 rated, providing protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction. This makes it suitable for walls under eaves, covered porches, and sheltered courtyard positions. It is not designed for fully-exposed positions subject to driving rain or submersion.
What bulb does it take?
The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for a traditional appearance through the seeded glass.
What is the composite material and why is it used?
The body is made from a UV-stabilised composite designed for outdoor use. Composite resists saltwater corrosion, does not rust like steel, and holds its finish longer than painted metal in high-UV environments. It also weighs less, simplifying installation on timber walls.
What size space does this suit?
At 377mm tall and 156mm wide, the Admirals Cove is sized for compact positions: side doors, narrow porches, garage entrances, or flanking a main door as a pair. For larger facades or tall entrance porches, Kichler offers medium and large variants in the same range.
