Description

Small crystal spheres gather against polished chrome, so the light breaks into bright points rather than arriving as a flat wash. At 23cm wide it is a modest fitting, and a pull switch on the body means it can be worked on its own, independently of the room's main lighting. A single candle lamp with an E14 cap sits behind the crystal; fit a dimmable one and the level can be brought right down of an evening. Nothing about it is heavy-handed: the crystal does the work and the chrome stays quiet behind it.

We would use it in pairs, either side of a bed or a mirror, where the pull switch saves crossing a dark room to the switch by the door. It also works on a landing or in a short hallway, and the shallow projection helps where a corridor is narrow and anything deeper would catch shoulders and bags. It suits a smaller room, where a wider fitting would crowd the wall. Keep it to rooms that stay dry and warm: bedrooms, sitting rooms and halls rather than a shower room or an open porch.

The crystal is set on chromed metal, and polished chrome shows dust and fingermarks sooner than a brushed finish does, so give the metal an occasional going over with a dry soft cloth, and lift any smears from the spheres with a barely damp one, the supply switched off beforehand. It takes up to 20W, which is ample for LED, and it carries a one year warranty. We stock the same wall light in antique brass, and with prism crystal in place of the spheres, and the range runs to matching flush ceiling fittings in round and square shapes.
